21 Apr HAVE A GREEN THUMB? HERBAN BLOOM ANNOUNCES SPRING CLASSES/WORKSHOPS
Ready to learn how to create the perfect bouquet arrangement, wow dinner guests with a gorgeous centerpiece and learn the secrets of growing and cooking herbs?
Then we have news for you! Our flower shop and floral décor store on Vashon Island is offering spring classes and workshops starting this April. Classes will take place at Herban Bloom’s beautiful shop on Vashon Island. This is the perfect way to inspire your inner-gardener (and would also make a great Mother’s Day gift!).
Here are the classes/workshops to choose from:
Art of the Seasonal Centerpiece:
Herban Bloom’s own Floral Designers will guide you to create the perfect seasonal centerpiece for your table. This hands-on class includes instruction, flowers and vases to bring your floral vision to life. Sunday, April 26th, noon-2pm. Taught by Melody Williams and Mark Grant of Herban Bloom.
Gardening & Cooking with Herbs:
Bring your garden and kitchen together in this hands-on workshop. We’ll discuss all kinds of herbs, and how to grow, harvest, cook, and preserve them. An herb-inspired lunch will be provided with recipes including: Rosemary Lemonade, Sweet Potato-Dungeness Crab Cakes, Lemony Spring Sorrel Soup Shooter, Herb and Goat Cheese Timbales, Salad of Organic Greens, Fresh Herbs and Edible Flowers with Raspberry Thyme Vinaigrette, Herb Buttermilk Knots with Chive Butter, and Rosemary Caramel Sandwich Cookies. Wednesday, May 20th, 6-8 pm. Taught by BJ Duft, owner of Herban Bloom and Herban Feast.
Make a Hypertufa Planter:
Hypertufa is a combination of mixed peat moss, cement, and perlite used to create rustic pots that are perfect for growing herbs, succulents, and other plants. This workshop will require you to tap into your imagination in order to create a hypertufa planter of your own design! Sunday, May 24th, noon-2pm. Taught by BJ Duft, owner of Herban Bloom and Herban Feast.
All About Lavender:
Did you know that there are over 150 varieties of lavender? Learn about what varieties to grow in the Pacific Northwest, what varieties to cook with, what varieties to use for aromatherapy and much more. A light lunch will be provided with lavender-inspired recipes such as Strawberry-Lavender Lemonade, Tapenade, Chicken Pressada, Grilled Asparagus W/ Vegetable Citronette, Herbs de Provence Quinoa Pilaf, and Lavender-Lemon Shortbread Cookies. You will also get to take home an aromatic lavender sleep pillow. Sunday, May 31st, noon-2 pm. Taught by BJ Duft, owner of Herban Bloom and Herban Feast.
Don’t have time for a class this spring? We are planning additional classes for the summer and fall, so stay tuned!
All classes will enjoy light snacks and refreshments. Class fee is $50 per class. Handouts and materials will be provided. Garden gloves advised for potting and hypertufa class.
