Top Wedding Trends for 2016 from our Design Expert

Each year, we see new trends in wedding themes, décor and details emerge. Last year we talked about the popularity of flower crowns, off-the-shoulder dresses, and pops of Marsala color tones. Our own Herban Bloom and Herban Design Studio style expert, Rebecca Dashow, shared her thoughts on what she’s seeing for 2016.

1. Soft calming color palettes

From creams to Pantone’s pastel colors of the year, calming neutrals will take center stage as this year’s most popular wedding colors.

2. All metallic themed weddings

Metallic colors are no stranger to the wedding scene. However, this year they will be offering more than a pop of shine. From linens to bridesmaid dresses, metallic will be a color palette of its own!

3. Goodbye Mason jars, hello mismatched vessels and vases

2016 is the year we say bye, bye to the Mason jar. However, that doesn’t mean you need to have a set of matching vases adorning your wedding tabletop. Use mismatched vases or unexpected vessels (like the goblet below) to create a beautiful and original floral display.

4. Floral prints on wedding dresses and bridesmaids dress

Florals are jumping out of their vases and onto the wedding party in 2016. Is a floral wedding dress outside of your comfort zone? Adapt the trend in a smaller way with floral bridesmaid dresses, a pair of flowery reception shoes, or even floral printed robes to get ready in.

5. Personalized everything

It’s your wedding so why not put your name on it? This year the personalized wedding details will be out in full force. A couple ideas to consider trying: a monogrammed wedding cake, throw pillows, a personalized wedding hashtag, or a pin with your new initials in your wedding bouquet.

6. Locally grown flowers

Choosing locally grown flowers helps support your community’s economy, minimizes environmental impact, and on top of that, you’re likely to end up with fresher, more vibrant flowers!
